She’s on vacation I think. Have not had the mind to knit or tat for the past few days. I go from one to another, neither holding my attention long enough to show any progress. I’ve got some tatted snowflakes and bookmarks. I’m burnt out on everything. And not being able to drive is getting to me. I have to depend on other’s for a ride and that just ain’t happening, they have better things and drama to deal with. My SCA “friends” hope to see me soon, but don’t volunteer to come get me for a get together or anything.
I did win a blog contest. Actually, I was within seconds of being the 3rd email, she was in a give-a-way mood, so I got a copy of her book! Very cool!
Think I’ll knit some now, focus on that if I can.
Has been one hell of a ride since I checked in here last. I think about what I to write when I wake up. I do, really. Getting up in the mornings takes a while. I have to “wake” up the muscles, stretch, sometimes for 30 minutes before I even sit on the side of the bed. Sit on the side of the bed for another 10 – 15 min to let the body get used to being up right, grab the cane and shuffle off to the bathroom. Make it to the kitchen, make coffee..not living with out that… while it’s brewing, put the bed back together. I REFUSE to get back in and lay there. So I put my knitting/yarn/ what ever out, get the computer going..and so begins the day.
The new lesion is in the cerebellum , not a good thing..The cerebellum is responsible for coordinating movement, planning, motor activities, learning and remembering of physical skills and for some cognitive abilities. Among other things.
This is what I am going through:
# ataxia (difficulty in coordinating movements)
# loss of balance and vertigo
# muscle weakness
# dysarthria (loss of coordination of the muscles controlling speech)
Speech is hit or miss right now.
I’ve had occupation and physical therapy out to the house..yea, yea.. There is a definite issue with the balance. And there is strength loss. Stairs are are hell, so doing some strength stuff. Speech has taken a hit.
I’m on week 2 of the prednisone tapper…YUK!! While it is helping the the MS crap, it has totally screwed my taste, my gastro, increased the edema that I already had. OH, and the insomnia is horrible…sleep is not as screwed as it was last week thought.
I managed to get to the Bobbins & Needles groups at Barnes & Nobles Starbucks last night. One of my fab yarn buddies picked me up, we stopped by Michaels (YARN ON CLEARANCE!!) and I got some great company. Getting out is important.. These 4 walls get closer and closer.
Well, Appreciate the wind and blowing on you face, the clouds that are in the sky. Even standing in the rain can be a good thing.
Okay, off to play with yarn…
I joined a KAL (knit-a-long) back in August. We were given “clue” each week along with a piece of the knitting pattern. I learned how to read a knitting chart, that alone was worth the experience. Made a few new online knitting buddies, learned some really cool knitting “tricks” and ended up with a very beautiful stole. It is a WIP, that’s Work In Progres.
Anyway, DK, the designer, has a blog, and while visiting it today I discovered A CONTEST!! I’m all for any thing that will feed the fiber addiction I have!!!!!
A Contest!!! What should I knit next? You decide…

I really enjoy the Tuesday nights I can get to the local Barnes and Nobles for the weekly gatherings of the “bobbins & needles” fiber group. we have ladies that knit, crochet, spin, bobbin lace…..
such wonderful things that can be done with “string”.
I’m participating in a “KAL”, Knit A Long. We get a little piece of the pattern each week, with last friday being week 1, there is a “theme” to the shawl that is being made and part of the fun is trying to figure out the theme. I’ve learned to read a knitting chart as opposed to a written pattern.
okay, my mind if fried and i’m having trouble typing, so i’m off to bed.
What’s up blog world? I’m still alive and treading water…. Things are rough trying to keep my head above water. Everything has gone up, gas, food, EXCEPT my paycheck and it won’t this year. I’m not able to get a 2nd job, one is about all I can handle with the MS.
My SCA adventures are on hold for now. There are a few events “local”, HAHAHA, our little SCA group is co-hosting Fall Crown List. Oh Joy.
I’ve become totally obsessed with knitting and fiber. I’ve got a bit of a plan to knit some crimson and white bookmarks and sell them to the football obsessed morons on campus. HAHAHA.
I’ve added a new link to the left, Garden Girl TV. This woman is totally inspiring. You should really check it out. You too can have fresh, picked them yourself veggies in the middle of the city. She grows most of her own food, raises angora rabbits and spins their fur… that totally rocks.
Gotta go knit something, it’s frickin addictive… geeze.
I so am loving knitting. I’ve gone and bought some fab yarn and have a shawl in progress. Pics on my flickr page, can be accessed from here. It just been started Sunday past and I have not had a chance to get any more done. But it’s going to work with me today. It’s miserably slow right now and I can only spend so much time staring at the computer screen looking for an island to retreat to.
And speaking of knitting, I’ve joined an online community called ravelry. knitting and other string related addictions. I spent this Saturday past at Serendipity Needleworks for Knit in Public Day. Had a much fun and of course that’s where I purchased my yarn. Ellen, shop owner, is great. I had taken some of my tatting to share and she and several ladies are wanting to learn shuttle tatting. I may be teaching tatting at her shop later this summer. WHOOOT!!!
SCA stuff, I’ve not done much with that lately, folks want to do this and that and it’s just rehashing things that have been said in the past. There are a few events I would like to go to, but alas, I can’t afford the gas.
Ok, off to another wonderful and exciting day at The University of Alabama.
I obsess, indeed I do. Currently knitting is the choice, and tomorrow is World Wide Knit in Public Day. I will be splitting my time between to locations, the new Barnes and Nobles with the local fiber guild and Serendipity Needleworks. Advantage to the later is Ellen, the shop owner will be having door prizes! B&N does have a Starbucks though and the fiber guild has a sit n spin, knit, chat night on Tuesday evenings from 6 – 9. I’ve been to a few of those. I’ll have some photo’s linked of my lace shawl when I get a little further along on it.
